We’re going toy crazy in Elf Owls!!

Recently in our book, some magical things have been happening! Lots of toys have come to life. We all thought this was pretty amazing and it got our brains thinking about toys!

We explored lots of old toys (even older than Mr Swallow) in our classroom and thought about the materials they were made from! We then compared them to our brand new toys and we started to notice straight away that the material used most commonly today was plastic!

We did lots of research online and in books and found out that in the 1500’s the dolls house was invented in Germany and we found out that Lego (one of our favourite toys ever) was introduced in the UK in 1958!

Now that we know everything there is to know about toys there is only one possible thing we can do!!! We’ve decided to design and build our own toys – so keep checking back through the week to see how we are getting on!

PS – check out our initial plans above to see what each team has decided to build!

We’ve been writing stories

We've written some really amazing story starters for our text driver! See if you can spot all those important features that we used !!!

Advertising the circus!

We interrogated some posters to find out what presentation features and what text features we needed to effectively advertise our circus. We used bright colours and different fonts to grab the readers attention and provided key information to help persuade the children of Sandhill to come to our circus!

Leon and the place between

Our text driver tells the story of a little boy called Leon and his friends who all have different beliefs when it comes to magic! So far on our journey we have explored some wonderful things and created some AMAZING WORK - keep an eye out for what we've been up to coming soon! Mr Hardy
